We are passionate about empowering aspiring filmmakers to achieve their goals. Our filmmaking training programme is tailored to provide the necessary tools and resources that will help our students take their next step, whether that is further training or moving into the film industry.
Our programmes are based in Hertfordshire near several huge film studios, which include Leavesden, Pinewood and Elstree, we also have connections with the award-winning production company Goldfinch.
For students interested in apprenticeship and work experience we have Brilliant connections with the BBC, Hertfordshire Film Office and Hertfordshire LEP.
Since our launch in 2022, our students have created over 50 films. These projects have ranged from short films and idents to professional promotional materials based on client briefs. During their time with us, students have received incredible feedback from clients, attended film screenings, successfully submitted films to international film festivals, and used their portfolios from our academy to apply to universities and colleges.

Our students are taught a wide range of filmmaking practices by industry experts on a weekly basis. This instruction equips them with the skills to produce films. Students are encouraged to create as much content as possible, whether on-site or on location.
Throughout the filmmaking process and film festival submissions, all our students have received acceptance in various categories. Notably, one group won Best Drama at the Stockholm Film Festival. In addition to filmmaking, we guide our students towards further education or work placements. Four of our past students have secured unconditional offers from highly regarded universities offering film degrees.
This year, we focused on cinematography and understanding lenses. We also covered sound and foley, with students creating original live soundtracks for films. Additionally, we visited the BBC Studios for a private tour of the Eastenders backlot and set. This tour led to Brilliant Film Academy officially affiliating with BBC Studios, providing our students with pathways to work placements and apprenticeship schemes. We have also affiliated with Hertfordshire Film Office, LEP and The Odyssey Cinema for independent screenings.
We offer an Apple editing suite with numerous machines and programs accessible to students. They have access to various DSLRs, sound recorders, microphones, camera rigs, LED panel lighting, green screens, radios, as well as online resources, templates, videos, how-tos, and an SFX/music library.
Regardless of their age, students are taught to effectively utilise this equipment, enabling them to produce stunning films that will truly captivate audiences. Our commitment to consistent hands-on filmmaking sessions every week underscores our dedication to practical learning in the art of film production.
